CAP'D BY THE MTNS
Hearing is a multi-layer faction and goes beyond the ears. Central auditory processing (CAP) examines how the brain responds with what was heard and can affect individuals following a concussion/TBI, newly identified hearing loss, or even from early childhood.Symptoms of central auditory processing disorders (CAPD) can also vary. Difficulties may include: challenges in understanding speech in noisy environments, retaining information, staying engaged during conversations, saying "huh" or "what" often, daydreaming, and impulsivity.
BAER Audiology offers comprehensive CAP evaluations for individuals as young as 5 via telehealth, ensuring accessible care for all and special education department (SPED) in-services to help specialists understand the intricacies of CAPD, how it differs across professionals, DHH and SLD eligibilities.
